Basketball Recap: McCook Takes a Loss

McCook came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 77-50 loss at the hands of the Life Prep Fire. The loss was the Bison's first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why McCook lost, don't look at Brody Graham. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tripp Raile, who posted eight points.

Life Prep was led to victory by Sergio Munoz Cornella and Laterro Young. Munoz Cornella shot 58% from the field en route to 16 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Young put up ten points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Munoz Cornella now owns an excellent 46.8% field goal percentage. Quinton Rolle, Jr was another key player, as he made all 5 shots he took for 10 points and five rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, McCook fell to 3-1. As for Life Prep, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-1.

McCook and Kearney Catholic will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Life Prep, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Boonville at 2:00 p.m. on the 27th.
