Baseball Recap: Northview Victorious

Northview made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Duluth, but still couldn't quite topple them. The Northview Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Duluth Wildcats a 12-0 shutout on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Not much got past Ryan DiSano, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Duluth off the board. The dominant performance gave DiSano a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Northview let Graham Forney and Evan Bates run wild. Forney got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI, while Bates scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Bates a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Jack Pierson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one triple.

Northview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Northview's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Duluth, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Northview is taking a road trip to take on Alpharetta at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Northview is facing Alpharetta at the right time seeing as Alpharetta is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Duluth, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
