Baseball Game Preview: La Salle Lancers vs. San Marino Titans

The La Salle Lancers will square off against the San Marino Titans at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Things were looking good for La Salle after they put the first runs on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Serra by a score of 6-5. Lancers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Cavaliers since on Tuesday.

La Salle saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chris Cardenas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Aidan Gray also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

San Marino never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Temple City last Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Rams. Considering the Titans have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jamie Bercaw and Aldo Cali did most of the damage at the plate: Bercaw scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Cali scored three runs while going 1-for-2. What's more, Bercaw posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Mena, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

San Marino has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

La Salle beat San Marino 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
