Baseball Recap: George Jenkins Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, George Jenkins rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the Winter Haven Blue Devils by a score of 9-4. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Junior Jacquez looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Armani Cozza, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Abdon, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

George Jenkins' record is now 19-8. As for Winter Haven, they moved to 12-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, George Jenkins will welcome Sarasota at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.1, the Sailors 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Winter Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
