Football Game Preview: Maud Tigers vs. Paoli Pugs

For the first time this season, Maud will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Paoli Pugs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Maud came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were beaten by Quinton 46-0. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last matchup, Paoli made sure to put some points up on the board against Thackerville two weeks ago. The Pugs took their game with ease, bagging an 82-36 victory over the Wildcats. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Pugs had established a 24-point advantage.

Maud better keep an eye on Braxton Compton. He was instrumental in Paoli's win, rushing for 240 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 124 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes. Those 240 rushing yards gave Compton a new career-high.

Paoli's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB ten times. Cobey Williamson led the group effort, picking up five of those sacks all by himself.

The win got Paoli back to even at 1-1. As for Maud, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Maud was dealt a bruising 48-0 loss at the hands of Paoli when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
