Volleyball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Cougars vs. Kalama Chinooks

The Seton Catholic Cougars will take on the Kalama Chinooks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Kalama will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Seton Catholic extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Cougars put the hurt on King's Way Christian with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Seton Catholic found their leader in sophomore Sofia Southwick, who had 13 assists and eight digs. Southwick has been hot, having posted 13 or more assists the last five times she's played. Millie Karbowicz also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kalama, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Stevenson 3-0 on Thursday. The Chinooks not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 25th (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Kalama took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-10, 25-15, 25-13.

Kalama's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Seton Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Seton Catholic has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Kalama struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Seton Catholic skirted past Kalama 2-1 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chinooks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
