Baseball Recap: Kenwood Beats Solorio for Their Seventh Straight Win

Kenwood entered their tilt with Solorio on Saturday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Sun Warriors get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Broncos have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Josiah Patterson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Luster, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brandon Stinson, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Kenwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Solorio only posted an OBP of .143.

Kenwood pushed their record up to 13-6-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Solorio, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Kenwood and Solorio will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Broncos see the field they'll take on Lane Tech at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th. As for Solorio, their break will end when they face Loyola Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th.
