Softball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Indians vs. East Bernard Brahmas

The Sacred Heart Indians will challenge the East Bernard Brahmas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sacred Heart fell victim to Tidehaven and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Indians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Bernard). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Navarro a 13-0 shutout on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Brahmas needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Samantha Fryer and Kate Hudgins did most of the damage at the plate: Fryer scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Hudgins scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Fryer a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Abigail Garcia, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.

East Bernard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory snapped East Bernard's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-7 record. As for Sacred Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
