Baseball Recap: Severance Victorious

Severance won the last time they faced Thompson Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Silver Knights skirted past the Eagles 11-10.

Colton Matthews was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dom Torres, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Garrett Mann was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Severance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Severance's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Thompson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coming up, Severance will take on Greeley Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Silver Knights are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Thompson Valley, they will challenge Poudre at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
