Basketball Game Preview: Iowa Colony Pioneers vs. Concordia Lutheran Crusaders

The Iowa Colony Pioneers will take on the Concordia Lutheran Crusaders in a tournament on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Iowa Colony was able to grind out a solid victory over Angleton, taking the game 69-62. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Wildcats are ranked 470th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Concordia Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 74-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nolan Catholic.

Iowa Colony will need focus on slowing down Jaxon Coleman, one of several Concordia Lutheran players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 of 12 en route to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Coleman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Loukas Naum, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Iowa Colony is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Concordia Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
