Baseball Recap: Wellborn Drops Highest Score of Season Against Saks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellborn). They were the clear victors by a 24-11 margin over the Saks Wildcats on Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Clark made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dozer Hayes and Liam Avery did most of the damage at the plate: Hayes went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while Avery scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most hits Hayes has posted since back in April of 2024. Brady Greenwood was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five RBI and one triple.

Wellborn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Wellborn's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Saks, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Wellborn will have a chance to go back-to-back against Saks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
