Basketball Game Preview: Alamogordo Tigers vs. Mayfield Trojans

The Alamogordo Tigers will face off against the Mayfield Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Alamogordo is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Alamogordo is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Organ Mountain on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Alamogordo was beaten by Organ Mountain 78-40. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Knights are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Mayfield hadn't done well against Centennial recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Mayfield walked away with a 57-48 win over Centennial.

Mayfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Alamogordo, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-10.

Alamogordo beat Mayfield 63-55 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Alamogordo repeat their success, or does Mayfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
