Preview: Pickens County Tornadoes vs. Winterboro Bulldogs
The Pickens County Tornadoes will take on the Winterboro Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pickens County comes in on four and Winterboro on three.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pickens County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 32-20 win over Addison. The score was all tied up 12-12 at the break, but Pickens County was the (much) better team in the second half.
Pickens County had a senior duo take command as Santonio Jones picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Kemaurion Plott threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday Winterboro proved too difficult a challenge. Winterboro secured a 42-37 W over Decatur Heritage Christian Academy. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Their wins bumped Pickens County to 8-3 and Winterboro to 6-5.
Everything went Pickens County's way against Winterboro in their previous meeting back in November of 2021 as Pickens County made off with a 38-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pickens County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
