Baseball Recap: Friends Takes a Loss

Friends extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They came up short against the Beth Tfiloh Warriors, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in March.

As for Beth Tfiloh, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Beth Tfiloh's part, Zachary Rogers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rogers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Ami Bresler tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Rafi Samuel was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Oscar Wright was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Friends will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Key at 7:30 p.m. on May 2. As for Beth Tfiloh, they will venture away from home to face off against Park School at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
