Preview: Archbishop McNicholas Rockets vs. Roger Bacon Spartans
The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets will head out on the road to challenge the Roger Bacon Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Archbishop McNicholas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
Archbishop McNicholas' recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight defeat. They fell 57-45 to Badin.
Despite their loss, Archbishop McNicholas saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrew Ehlers, who scored 11 points along with five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jack Tucker, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Roger Bacon pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-60 bruising from Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Roger Bacon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 541st, while Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy is ranked 223rd).
Archbishop McNicholas has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Roger Bacon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
Everything came up roses for Archbishop McNicholas against Roger Bacon when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Archbishop McNicholas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
