Preview: Newfane Panthers vs. Albion Purple Eagles
Newfane is 9-1 against Albion since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Newfane Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Albion Purple Eagles at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Newfane's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Newfane has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season. They breezed by Emerson Vo-Tech at home to the tune of 57-22. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Newfane has managed all season.
Newfane relied on the efforts of Ben Dickinson, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and three blocks, and Brayden Seitz, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Braman, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Albion came up short against Midlakes two weeks ago and fell 58-48.
Newfane pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Albion, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Newfane didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Albion in their previous meeting back in February, but they still walked away with a 63-59 win. Will Newfane repeat their success, or does Albion have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
