Basketball Recap: Richards Comes Up Short

If Richards was riding high fresh off their 62-20 takedown of Hubbard last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richards Warriors lost to the Dunbar Mightymen on the road by a 68-53 margin on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 75-44 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Jordan Wordlaw continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dunbar, putting up 29 points. Wordlaw's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Tyler Nixon was another key player, posting 12 points.

Richards' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Dunbar, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Richards will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Longwood at 5:05 p.m. on January 23rd. Dunbar will also get a bit of a break before their next matchup: they'll face off against King at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st.
