Football Recap: Jim Thorpe Takes a Loss

Jim Thorpe played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Southern Lehigh Spartans, falling 47-27. The Olympians have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Jim Thorpe still got an impressive performance from Cole Lazorick, who rushed for 77 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 250 yards and one TD. Lazorick was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.

Jim Thorpe's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Southern Lehigh, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Jim Thorpe will head out to square off against Catasauqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Olympians will be up against the Rough Riders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Southern Lehigh, they will head out on the road to take on Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
