Softball Recap: Pine Tree Triumphs

Pine Tree got themselves on the board against Beckville on Friday, but Beckville never followed suit. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Beckville Bearcats 2-0. This was payback for the Pirates, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Pine Tree's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nia Woodson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Woodson a new career-high. Laykin Elliott also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

With the win, Pine Tree broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-7-1. As for Beckville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-2.

Coming up, Pine Tree will take on New Diana in a tournament on Saturday. Beckville has already played their next match (against Hallsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
