After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tucumcari, Clayton was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They secured a 46-40 W over the Santa Rosa Lions. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Lions back in January, they had to take a 37-22 defeat.

Despite the loss, Santa Rosa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Willow Johnson dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in boards. Bailey Johnson was another key player, putting up seven points and 14 rebounds.

Clayton's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Santa Rosa, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Coming up, Clayton will challenge Estancia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Rosa, they will take on Tucumcari at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tucumcari will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Santa Rosa surely won't give up without a fight.
