Ryan is a perfect 4-0 against Richland since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Raiders will take on the Royals at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Ryan sitting on seven straight victories and Richland on three.
Ryan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Abilene a 59-0 shutout. That looming 59-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Raiders yet this season.

Quin Henigan was his usual excellent self, throwing for 316 yards and six touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards. Those 316 passing yards gave him a new career-high. 128 of Henigan's passing yards were hauled in by Tre'Vaughn Reynolds, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
Ryan's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Kha'Ron Freeman-Wade refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Jaxson Dozier was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Richland took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 70-37 win over El Dorado. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Aztecs are ranked 222nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ryan better keep an eye on Jayshon Gibson. He was instrumental in Richland's win, rushing for 321 yards and seven TDs while picking up 20.1 yards per carry, and also catching one score. Gibson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. Another player making a difference was Brett Kates, who threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Richland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 425 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Ryan's record is now 11-1. As for Richland, their record now sits at 9-3.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Reynolds and Gibson. Reynolds just won't slow down this season and has run in 9 touchdowns while averaging 88 rushing yards per game. Gibson has been a dominant force too and has run in 40 touchdowns while averaging 186.8 rushing yards per game.
Ryan beat Richland 30-21 in their previous meeting back in October. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gibson, who rushed for 212 yards and three TDs.
