Baseball Game Preview: American Eagles vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

American hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will challenge the Mariners at 4:00 p.m.

American is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of Arroyo.

Eric Keesis was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Hsiao, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic came tearing into Monday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Matadors.

Benji Fuentes and Isaiah Clendinen did most of the damage at the plate: Fuentes went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Clendinen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave Clendinen a new career-high. Nate Elizarrey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Moreau Catholic pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for American, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

American took their victory against Moreau Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
