Softball Recap: Ansonia Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ansonia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Russia Raiders 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Bre Walker looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Ansonia let Lillian Kaiser and Miley Walls run wild. Kaiser went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Walls went 2-for-4 with one home run. Those two RBI gave Kaiser a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lillian Perry, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Ansonia's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Russia, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.
