Baseball Game Preview: Santa Rosa Academy Rangers vs. Rancho Mirage Rattlers

The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers will take on the Rancho Mirage Rattlers in a tournament on Thursday.

Santa Rosa Academy saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Jacinto.

Luke Hamilton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles.

Meanwhile, Rancho Mirage was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Bloomington by a score of 7-2.

Zachary Berntsen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Berntsen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Jayden Cunningham looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Marcos Ceja Jr., who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Jaden Labit was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Rancho Mirage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bloomington onlymanaged five hits.

Rancho Mirage's record now sits at 4-1. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Santa Rosa Academy suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Rancho Mirage when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Santa Rosa Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
