Baseball Recap: Cushing Comes Up Short

Cushing lost against Douglass back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cushing Bearkats fell 6-2 to the Douglass Indians. The Bearkats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eli Dawson put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up six earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cushing is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-3 otherwise. Dawson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base was his first of the season.

Cushing's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Douglass, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3-1 record this season.

Cushing will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Trinity at 10:00 a.m. As for Douglass, they will face off against Elkhart at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
