Baseball Recap: Tuckahoe Starts Season with Win Against Haldane

Tuckahoe gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Haldane Blue Devils with a sharp 16-1 victory. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jack Rideout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Tuckahoe let Jay Romeo and Rocco Briante run wild. Romeo went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Briante scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four hits gave Romeo a new career-high. Ben Silvestri was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Tuckahoe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-5 victory against Somers on the 3rd. As for Haldane, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Peekskill on the 2nd.
