The Linfield Christian Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Ontario Christian Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Linfield Christian will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Linfield Christian can't be too worried about heading out to take on Ontario Christian: they just beat Canyon Springs at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Lions blew past the Cougars 10-4 on Saturday. Considering the Lions have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexa Ojeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits.
At the plate, Linfield Christian let Charli Calas and Sam Deel run wild. Calas went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Deel went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Deel a new career-high. Chloe Hill also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Linfield Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ontario Christian posted their closest victory since February 27th on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Arrowhead Christian. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Hannah Demoff, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Tager, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Linfield Christian's record now sits at 16-2. As for Ontario Christian, their record is now 9-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Linfield Christian hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Ontario Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Linfield Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Ontario Christian in their previous matchup back in March, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
