Basketball Recap: Seneca Takes a Loss

Seneca and South Pointe squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Seneca had to settle for second. They were beaten by the South Pointe Stallions 72-32. The contest marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Seneca's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jermaine Miller, who posted six points and eight boards, and Stu Finley, who earned 12 points. Miller is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played.

Even though they lost, Seneca smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games.

Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for South Pointe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-8.

Seneca does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Pointe, they will be playing at home against Berea at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (South Pointe has won four straight at home, while Berea won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
