Stone is 9-1 against Poplarville since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Stone Tomcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Poplarville Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Stone is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Poplarville in Mississippi (Stone is ranked 115th, while Poplarville is ranked 306th).

Last Tuesday, Stone beat Gautier 42-32. The win was just what Stone needed coming off of a 63-38 defeat in their prior game.

Stone got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jabori Moye out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Moye continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKobey Johnson, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Poplarville, who are still winless after their 20th match. They suffered a tough 65-41 loss at the hands of Columbia on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Poplarville has suffered since December 1, 2023.

Stone's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Poplarville, they bumped their record down to 0-20 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Stone against Poplarville in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 75-18 victory. With Stone ahead 41-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
