The Solanco Golden Mules will face off against the Manheim Central Barons at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Solanco will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Solanco is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hempfield with a sharp 16-2 victory on Friday. Considering the Golden Mules have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Martin was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Gote, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Ava Fedoruk was another key player, scoring four runs while going 4-for-5.
Solanco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .595. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Manheim Central came up short against Manheim Township on Friday and fell 8-5. The Barons have struggled against the Blue Streaks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Paige Garner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Solanco's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Manheim Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Solanco hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .390. However, it's not like Manheim Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
