Baseball Recap: St. Brendan Has No Trouble Against Immaculata-La Salle

St. Brendan was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Immaculata-La Salle on Friday. Everything went the St. Brendan Sabres' way against the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions as the St. Brendan Sabres made off with a 14-1 victory. With that win, the Sabres brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Ulpiano Puentes tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kevin Leon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Rafael Rizo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

St. Brendan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immaculata-La Salle only posted an OBP of .158.

St. Brendan's record is now 4-2. As for Immaculata-La Salle, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3.

Coming up, St. Brendan will be playing in front of their home fans against Miami Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Miami Springs: 1.2, St. Brendan: 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
