Volleyball Recap: Menendez Comes Up Short

Menendez lost against St. Augustine back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Falcons fell 3-1 to the Yellow Jackets. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Menendez started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-20, 27-25, 27-25.

Tommy Abbonizio paced Menendez's offense, picking up 22 kills. Abbonizio got some help from Alex Fischer and his 38 assists. Fischer was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Menendez's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for St. Augustine, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Menendez didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Warner Christian Academy on the 14th. As for St. Augustine, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Tocoi Creek on the 14th.
