Basketball Recap: Shawnee Skates Past Elida with Ease

Shawnee won the last time they faced Elida and things went their way on Saturday too. The Indians took their matchup with ease, bagging a 79-50 victory over the Bulldogs. The Indians pushed the score to 69-39 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Shawnee to victory were Beckett Bertke and Trevick Bertke. Beckett shot 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists, while Trevick went 7-for-13 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and five assists. The game was Trevick's 16th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Sullivan Hasting, who posted 15 points.

The win got Shawnee back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shawnee will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Crestview at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Elida, they will square off against Spencerville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
