Soccer Game Preview: Helena vs. Pell City

The Helena Huskies will challenge the Pell City Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Helena is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.3 goals per game this season.

On Thursday, Helena made easy work of Calera and carried off a 5-1 win. Considering Helena have won 11 contests by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Calera with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Madeleine Blumstein (2), Kate Hendrix (2), and Baileigh Rumage.

Meanwhile, Pell City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They never let the Golden Bears get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given Pell City's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Lincoln are ranked 124th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Helena pushed their record up to 13-7-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 53 goals over those seven matchups. As for Pell City, their win bumped their record up to 14-3-2.

Helena beat Pell City by a goal in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 2-1. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
