Basketball Recap: Acadiana Takes a Loss

Acadiana was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the St. Thomas More Cougars, falling 61-15. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Cougars are ranked 53rd).

Noel Markaylon was Acadiana's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Katecamille Tatman had an outrageously good game for St. Thomas More as she went 9 of 15 on her way to 22 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Tatman has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaire McCauley, who posted nine points and eight steals.

Acadiana's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for St. Thomas More, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Acadiana wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-17 win against Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy on the 13th. St. Thomas More and Kaplan will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th.
