Football Recap: Clinton County Comes Up Short

Clinton County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They took a blow against the Eastern Eagles, falling 49-8. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 197th in Kentucky, while the Eagles are ranked 499th in Ohio).

As for Eastern, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Eastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Montgomery, who rushed for 143 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. Montgomery is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Manley Jr., who threw for 112 yards and one touchdown.

Clinton County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 30-25 victory against Casey County on the 19th. As for Eastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 41-6 win against Southern on the 20th.
