Volleyball Recap: Basic Takes Down Ranked Somerset Sky Pointe

Basic faced Somerset Sky Pointe in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wolves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Basic never let Somerset Sky Pointe on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-16, 25-20.

Basic was led to victory by Blake Bevell and Derek Dennett. Bevell had 13 digs, while Dennett had 17 assists and three digs. Those 17 assists gave Dennett a new career-high.

Basic's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-8. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4.

Basic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Rancho on the 4th. As for Somerset Sky Pointe, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Southeast Career Tech on the 4th.
