Preview: Airport Eagles vs. Midland Valley Mustangs
The Airport Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Midland Valley Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Airport came up short against Aiken and fell 51-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Airport in their matchups with Aiken: they've now lost eight in a row.
Meanwhile, Midland Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against North Augusta, falling 67-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Midland Valley has suffered against North Augusta since January 19, 2021.
Airport's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8. As for Midland Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Airport was able to grind out a solid victory over Midland Valley when the teams last played last Monday, winning 65-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Airport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
