Soccer Recap: Mattoon vs. Altamont
After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last four contests, Mattoon finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They lost 4-1 to the Altamont Indians. The Greenwave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2015.
Mattoon's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5. As for Altamont, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Mattoon is on the road again on Tuesday to play Effingham at 5:30 p.m. Effingham will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Mattoon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Altamont, they will host Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamont is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.8 goals per game this season.
