Volleyball Recap: Wheeler Wildcats vs. Sequoyah Chiefs
Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sequoyah Chiefs. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Chiefs when the teams met back in August of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Wheeler couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Sequoyah a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-31, 25-11, 15-11.
Maria Fisher was the offensive standout of the game as she had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Ella Moores also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Sequoyah, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.
Coming up, Wheeler will square off against Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sequoyah, they will venture away from home to square off against Dunwoody at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
