Baseball Game Preview: West Rusk Raiders vs. Arp Tigers

The West Rusk Raiders will head out to face off against the Arp Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rusk is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

West Rusk's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Sabine as they made off with a 9-0 victory.

Jason Reasoner was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. West Rusk is undefeated when Reasoner posts two or more runs, but 7-11-1 otherwise. Kam Brown also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Meanwhile, Arp came up short against Gladewater on Friday and fell 13-8. The Tigers have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Landon Smith was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Will Sanford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Adan Ponce was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

West Rusk's win bumped their record up to 10-11-1. As for Arp, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14-1.

West Rusk took their victory against Arp when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
