Basketball Game Preview: Hawkinsville Red Devils vs. Telfair County Trojans

Hawkinsville and Telfair County are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Hawkinsville Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Telfair County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hawkinsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.8 points per game this season.

Hawkinsville is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since February 3, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of Wilcox County by a score of 58-56. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Hawkinsville saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryson Singletary, who went 9 for 11 on his way to 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Singletary has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nieem Blair, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Telfair County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Toombs County.

Hawkinsville's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 8-8. As for Telfair County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Hawkinsville was able to grind out a solid win over Telfair County in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 76-66. Will Hawkinsville repeat their success, or does Telfair County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
