Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Gap Bison vs. Staunton Storm

The Buffalo Gap Bison will face off against the Staunton Storm at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Buffalo Gap's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five contests, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

Riverheads hit Buffalo Gap with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bison lost 10-0 to the Gladiators. That's two games in a row now that the Bison have lost by exactly ten runs.

Buffalo Gap saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Argenbright, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Staunton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Charlottesville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Black Knights by a score of 7-6. The defeat continues a trend for the Storm in their meetings with the Black Knights: they've now lost six in a row.

Nathan Neil was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Neil was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Henry Knox was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Staunton's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Buffalo Gap, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Buffalo Gap came out on top in a nail-biter against Staunton when the teams last played on April 1st, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
