Softball Recap: Johnston Falls Short Against Ranked Portsmouth

Johnston faced Portsmouth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Johnston and nudges their season record down to 12-7. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Portsmouth, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Johnston nor Portsmouth have any future games scheduled.
