Football Game Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Christ School Greenies

The Providence Day Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Christ School Greenies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Providence Day has six straight wins, Christ School has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Providence Day beats Christ School with 55 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Chargers simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] 55-21. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Zaid Lott continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Gordon Sellars also helped out with an impressive 94 receiving yards.

Providence Day was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Providence Day's defense stepped up as well, laying out Lucas Lopez eight times. Griff Galloway led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Justin Abanquah is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made seven or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Christ School played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Charlotte Christian, falling 44-21. While losing is never fun, the Greenies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Knights are ranked 35th).

Christ School now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Providence Day, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Everything came up roses for Providence Day against Christ School when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 55-7 win. In that matchup, the Chargers amassed a halftime lead of 27-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
