Preview: Polytechnic Parrots vs. Wyatt Chaparrals
Polytechnic is 0-10 against the Chaparrals since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Polytechnic Parrots will head out on the road to challenge the Wyatt Chaparrals at 7:30 p.m. Polytechnic is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Tuesday, Polytechnic had to suffer through a rough 72-20 loss at the hands of the Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, Polytechnic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1477th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 475th).
Sofia Castro put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 15 points. That was a full 75% of Polytechnic's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Wyatt can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 44-22 margin over South Hills. The win was just what Wyatt needed coming off of a 64-35 defeat in their prior game.
Polytechnic has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Wyatt, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.
Polytechnic was dealt a bruising 58-17 defeat at the hands of the Chaparrals when the teams last played back in January. Can Polytechnic avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
