Recap: Interlake Saints vs. Mercer Island Islanders

The Interlake Saints pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-58 to Mercer Island. Interlake has not had much luck with Mercer Island recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Interlake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelton Henton, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 34.5% of Interlake's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Dante Henton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mercer Island to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nick Mautone, who scored 22 points. Mautone is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Will Mcdonald, who scored 19 points.

Interlake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Mercer Island, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Interlake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mercer Island, they will head out on the road to square off against Bellevue at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellevue is coming into the contest with eight straight wins at home, so Mercer Island is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
