Baseball Recap: Paradise Valley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Desert Edge

There's no place like home for Paradise Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Desert Edge Scorpions 6-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted since March 19th.

Owen Bird tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has become a key player for Paradise Valley: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shawn Green, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Braedan Lewis was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Paradise Valley now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Desert Edge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paradise Valley will welcome Verrado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Desert Edge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Pointe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Pride have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
