Basketball Recap: Rapides Comes Up Short

Rapides was the 70-43 winner over Oak Hill when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Rapides Mustangs took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oak Hill Rams. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 14-7 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Rapides still got an impressive performance from Zayveian Johnson, who went 9 for 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 34 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Johnson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. MC Harris was another key player, going 8 of 16 en route to 17 points and eight assists.

Even though they lost, Rapides smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Rapides' loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Oak Hill, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.

Rapides has already played their next game, a 45-37 defeat against Kinder on the 24th. As for Oak Hill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 56-43 win against Converse on the 24th.
