Basketball Game Preview: Shafter Generals vs. Taft Wildcats

The Shafter Generals will venture away from home to take on the Taft Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Shafter came up short against Delano and fell 56-48. The loss continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Shafter might have lost, but man, Adin Cardenas was a machine: he went 9 for 15 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. Ian Gonzalez was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Taft hadn't done well against Chavez recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Taft snuck past Chavez with a 58-52 victory.

Taft's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-8. As for Shafter, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Shafter might still be hurting after the 53-29 loss they got from Taft in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Shafter, Blaine Neudorf (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
